Things to Look for When Deciding on a Hotel in Washington

WashingtonFinding a wonderful hotel when you’re visiting in Washington isn’t often straightforward, mainly because you have so much choice! Obviously, you can go for something out of the same Washington guidebook that everyone and their brother has checked for the last 5 years, but that doesn’t mean you’ll have a nice experience (in truth, it may virtually ensure a negative one!). As an alternative, it’s a good idea to do a touch of homework, using your good friend the Web. Locals definitely know the good hotels in their own city, what the best rooms are, and the most popular days to hit up their favourite parts of the city. However, you do not want to be going up to anybody you meet in the airport terminal in Washington, expecting their hints and tips. So instead, we’ve put together a quick list of our 3 favourite hotels in Washington for you. These are the ones we recommend to our friends when they return to visit – but because we do not want you to think we’re just being biased, listed below are the comparisons from Yelp.com:

Elegant First Class Old World Charm!

My husband and I had the great fortune of staying at the Hay Adams during the cherry blossom festival in DC two years ago. The hotel brings you back to another era. I felt like we were staying in a bedroom in the Chateau of Versaille in Paris! It was absolutely magnificent. This hotel has a very rich feel about it. I will say that driving up in a normal car when every one else was driving a Porsche or luxury vehicle was a bit uncomfortable, but once inside it was wonderful. The crowd tends to be more senior so we did feel like we were the youngest people there, but it really did not bother us. I would love to go back. (May just leave the car at home)!

Best Hotel stay EVER!!! My stay here was just phenomenal. Every staff member I can across was friendly and helpful. Upon checking in, I was upgraded to an executive suite. The suite was huge and had a very “statesman” feel to it. The location is very desirable. The Washington was two blocks away. I recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Washington DC
